time to heal

healing is not linear. i’ve heard this so many times before but never fully understood it. healing is not a straight path. there’s not a step by step guide on how to heal. when you heal, it hurts. when athletes get an injury they’re the ones who have to decide to wake up everyday and recover. it doesn’t just happen. and sometimes there’s setbacks but they still persevere. there’s been things that i thought i healed from but i’ve had setbacks. it’s ok to feel like you’re going backwards but don’t let yourself stay that way. there will be times when you might wish to be like you used to be, when you thought you were doing really good, but remember to not stay wishing for something you can’t get back. accept this moment and these feelings and move forward. you can’t change what it was then but you can decide what it will be now. but you cant do that until you accept it. take it day by day, minute by minute. be patient with yourself and treat yourself with the love and respect you deserve.
