The Secret Place

The revelation God gave me for 2021 was “Refuge.” He is still revealing the depth of what this means, but this week in particular I was brought back to the basics. This past week I was unsure of decisions. I was stressed, and my thoughts were fighting a war inside my mind. In the middle of the internal chaos, God sweetly reminded me to meet Him in the silence. I went to my quiet time, and God showed up.

He showed me a picture of a raging thunderstorm, loud and violent. Rain so heavy you couldn’t see two steps in front of you until the lightning struck and violently lit up the sky. I looked up and saw a light inside of a shelter. That was my quiet time, that’s where God was. He is my light. He is my strength. He is my peace. He is my love. He is my refuge.

We learn God’s heart deeply when ours is broken and hurting.

“For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle;

In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;

He will lift me up on a rock.” Psalm 27:5

“For You have been a defense for the helpless,

A defense for the needy in his distress,

A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;

For the breath of the ruthless

Is like a rainstorm against a wall.” Isaiah 25:4

“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,

And his children will have refuge.” Proverbs 14:26

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2

If you are suffering from a lack of peace, get in God’s presence. Run to the secret place and He will always be there with arms wide open. Your quiet time is so powerful.
