Making This Year Meaningful

I can almost guarantee that you would agree when I say last year was less than ideal. Don't get me wrong, a whole lot of good things came out of 2020 as a whole. But, at least for me, it seemed like day-to-day tasks became meaningless. Entering into this year, I wanted to guarantee this didn't happen again. So today I'm going to be sharing all of the tips and tricks I'm using to make this year absolutely, positively, meaningful.

1.Word for the Year

This is one that I think all of us talked about last year but didn't quite explain. Basically, you choose a word that you are going to strive for, work on, declare, or live out in your everyday life throughout that year. My word this year, for example, is delight. This stems out of Psalm 37:4, "Delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." This year, I am wanting to focus on my relationship with God- hence the delighting- and less on my own agenda.

2. Vision Board

I am a visionary- I have to have a physical representation of what I want to happen. This is where vision boards come in. I did a vision board this last year, and you will not believe the difference it made in my life! Seeing my goals every single day was so encouraging and made me want to accomplish them even more. This year I created my board digitally, saved a copy to every device I get on daily, and printed one to put at the front of my planner (I may have gone a little overboard, but hey, whatever works.). You may be asking, "But Kaylee, I have no idea where to start!" Let me tell you. Resolutions? Put em' on there. Goals? Yes. Dreams? One thousand percent. You don't have to be super crafty or anything, just make something that will inspire you!

3. Plan, Plan, Plan

This one may just be me, but I love a good planner. Or two. Or three. Okay, it's an addiction. For 2021, I have a school planner to lay out all of my assignment due dates, a monthly/weekly planner to lay out the grand scheme of things, and a 90 day monthly/daily planner to go super in-depth with my day. (See links below for more info!) Taking time to specifically plan out your week, tasks, and goals is so much more relaxing than you'd think! The best part? You know exactly what needs to be done, removing a whole bunch of stress from your routine.

4. Make a Record

This is something new I'm trying and I'm already loving it. Making a physical record of what's happening in your life is so meaningful and something that will last way beyond yourself. There are a few ways you could go about this, all depending on your personal preference. The first, and the one I'm trying, is a "one line a day" book. Every day, for the next five years, you write one thing down. Can you imagine looking back at this with generations down the line? Priceless. Another way you could record what's happening is by a method called "Turn the Page". To do this, you get a quality, durable Bible, and each day read one page, date it at the top, and write any significant events that happened that day. In just a few short years, you not only have a deeper desire to get into the Word, but also a day-by-day record of your life. The last record form I know of is a way to use up that extra notes space in your planner. Just like the last two, write down something every day or simply summarize your month. All of these will leave a lasting impact on not only your life but generations to come!

5. Make It Meaningful

God created each of us with a specific plan and purpose over our lives. Live it out! Take time to dive deep into all He has for you to further discover your true meaning, both in the year and in your life!
