Keep Me Going

What kept you going during quarantine? What stopped you from going insane? After being out for almost a year, I’m just now realizing how different my life looked while in isolation. For me, I had to stay away from my phone. This led to a lot of time doing homework, watching tv shows that, let‘s be honest, just reminded me of all I couldn’t do, and spending hours sitting outside. While all of these distractions were great, they were just that: distractions. After a while, they weren’t enough anymore. That’s where the emotional breakdowns and loneliness took over. I went from feeling like I could get through it to feeling like it would never end.

But then it did end. I was free again. So I made a promise to myself. I was going to live. Truly, fearlessly live. If there was any chance that I would be quarantined again tomorrow, then I was going to make the most of today. I bet you can guess how long that lasted.

The point is, when you’re constantly living off of something that satisfies the moment, you will be left empty every time. But when you let God keep you going, you will be fulfilled.
