I Am Worthy

Worthy- having or showing the qualities or abilities that merit recognition in a specific way; the quality of being good enough.

Worthiness is not a subject talked about frequently. Lately, though, I have been deep diving into the idea of being worthy. I want to know what it feels like to be good enough. I want to know what it looks like to deserve respect. But the one question I keep coming back to is this: What does it mean to walk worthy?

The one thing that I keep running into, though, is that my worthiness is defined by others. To better explain, I may think I'm worthy of a person's respect, but that person may see me as less than. Here's the thing though, walking worthy means that you go through life knowing that God thinks you're worth it. Despite your mistakes, flaws, and slip-ups, God still finds you worthy of His love. You are worth it to Him. Your worth is found in Him.

I'll be honest, finding my worth in God alone was not an easy task. For a very long time, I placed my worth in many other worldly things (relationships, friendships, trends) but nothing could ever satisfy my want to feel worthy. No amount of teenage boys could make me feel worthy. It didn't matter how many friends I had, I still didn't feel worthy. I could dress a certain way, cut my hair, talk the talk, and still not feel worthy. It wasn't until I truly surrendered my want to feel worthy to God that I felt satisfied. God poured His love into me. He not only made me feel worthy, but He constantly reminded me that I was worthy.

Now I'll be honest, I still sometimes let what people say about me determine how worthy I feel. Trust me, I know how self-deprecating it can be to hear all of the negative things people are saying about you. Nevertheless, God still ultimately defines you, and to Him, you are so beyond worthy.

Something I've been absolutely loving lately is positive affirmations. There are so many affirmations in the Bible and I greatly encourage you to go find some, but I gathered a few about worthiness for you.

"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!" -Psalm 139:27

All God sees in me is His beautiful, wonderful, worthy creation.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." -Psalm 19:14

I am worthy of God's words.

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8

I am worthy of God's love.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God..." -Ephesians 2:8

I am worthy of God's grace.
