i am shameless

so a few months ago the new live action mulan movie came out and if you haven’t seen it yet i totally recommend, it was so good. if you’ve seen mulan you know that the movie is about her changing her name and pretending to be a man in order to fight in her fathers place. in the movie she met this lady and the lady asked her who she was and she told her her man name and then lady asked her again who she was because she knew she was lying but mulan didn’t tell her and the lady said to her “tell me who you are or die trying to be someone you’re not.” this really stuck out to me.

luke 9:1-5

“One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. “Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money, or even a change of clothes. Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town. And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.””

we need to pack our bags and drop them off at the foot of the cross. you can’t go where God is calling you to go if you’re still holding onto everything God has told you to leave behind.

mark 8:34-38

“Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.””

you can’t get rid of your problems but you can choose if you’re gonna let ur problems overcome you or if you’re gonna let God overcome them.

romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: “

mulan changed her clothes, her hair, her voice, and even her own name. she pretended to be someone she’s not because she was ashamed of who she was but at the end she knew that she had to be shameless about who she really was to win the battle that was in front of her. she had to let go of the fear, the fake name, the disguise, because if she didn’t she wouldn’t have been able to win the battle she was fighting. she had to let go of all of her baggage and to be who she was created to be. she knew that being herself might have gotten her killed but she knew that she couldn’t hide who she was. we need to live a completely shameless life. we have to be authentically ourselves and be who God created us to be.
