“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” - Romans 12:2 Slowly but surely, our world has become more and more toxic. It almost seems like it has become a never ending black hole of comparison and negativity, especially among young girls and women. Social media, in my opinion, is a big part of this. Everyday, millions of people log onto Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat to post the best picture of the best parts of their lives. By why do we continual compare our lives to someone else’s filter version? Not only that, but social media can become a place solely based on trying to win the approval of everyone else. As Christians, this should never be our goal. The only approval we should be living off of is the approval of God! God has called us to be different from the world, to be set apart. He wants us to not be conformed to this world, but transformed through Him!
One of the best ways to do this is to be a light through social media. The things that you post should not just be your “highlight reel”, but something that can encourage and uplift the people who see it. If you want to see a change, you need to first be the change you want to see! That’s why we have launched an Instagram account providing you with encouragement throughout the week as well as reminders of new posts! Follow us @_i_am_2020_. We would love to connect with you!
